Our camp out in March was to Antelope Island and it was a lot of fun.  We had 8 scouts that attended the outing and I am pretty sure we made it home with all of them.

There was a very real threat that several of the lighter ones might be blown into southern Idaho due to the gale force winds we enjoyed!

 We stopped at the memorial for a military training mission that ended in disaster when a helicopter crashed into the Great Salt Lake.  Several of the boys remembered the monument from last years trip and wanted to stop again.

The Scouts set up camp in no time which left plenty of time to explore their surrounding, climb the nearby hill, and play ... patty cake???

 Our Senior Patrol Leader Jordan shared his 5 minute talk and his visual aid introducing himself to the patrol.  He did a great job sharing some neat insights with the rest of us encouraging us all to do better and be better.  Good job Jordan!

 The sunrise was beautiful and the wind gave us some additional challenges as we broke camp.
Folding up a tarp in 35mph wind makes for some pretty good entertainment (as long as you are not the one doing the folding).

 


 We headed over to the historic Fielding Garr Ranch Saturday morning to visit a historic place, and provide some service.  We did some exploring and "horsing around" first.

  We had a great time cleaning the museum, Mom's here is proof your boys know how to do housework, and they do a great job.  We did windows and doors, floors, and walls, in fact I believe their favorite job was beating the rugs .

We may come back smelling like campfire, dirty from head to toe, and tired to the bone, but we come back a little bit better.  Well after a nap of course.

Our Newest Eagles

Congratulations to Talon Talbot and Brock Dillon, they held their joint Eagle Court of Honor Saturday, March 10th at the Stake Center.  Both Scouts had many family and friends attended to show their support for the hard work these two great young men have put forth.  It was a fun evening with Indians and Mountain Men and lots of time to honor the accomplishments of two great Scouts.  Both Brock and Talon have moved on to the Varsity Team now but as alumni of Troop 1449 we want you to know we are proud of you, the path you have walked, and the example you have set for those who follow in your tracks.
